Measurement of blood flow to check the degree of fatigue


Based on ergonomic research, a comfortable seat that reduces fatigue

So that we can develop seats that properly support vehicle occupants, TS TECH is seeking to determine what it is that creates the feeling of comfort in the first moment after sitting down, and it is searching for the factors that reduce fatigue when one sits for an extended period of time. Different people feel comfort and fatigue in different ways, so we convert the relevant factors into numerical values that can be measured and evaluated, working toward the commercial development of even more comfortable seats through the application of ergonomic research.
New Civic seat aiming at the optimum comfort

The seat for Civic and Accord applied a resin-plate-spring, which reduces driver's fatigue by supporting the sacrum and from the pelvis to the ninth thoracic vertebra. The optimum plate angle that most of the drivers feel comfortable was calculated by measuring and analyzing the spinal curvature. Thanks to the plate used as a backrest spring, the seat improved fit feeling, helps drivers keep their posture right without strain on their back and reduces their fatigue after a long drive.



Reducing environmental impact under the theme of environmentally friendly manufacturing

To achieve its goal of reducing environmental impact, which is a crucially important social mission, TS TECH continues to push forward with the development of technologies that address environmental issues. For example, we are working to reduce CO2 emissions by reducing product weight, to improve product recyclability, and to completely eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals. We are currently engaged in research on the development of products that utilize single materials, which are easier to recycle, and we are working hard to achieve the commercial development of a seat frame that is 30% lighter than current models. Another evidence of our concern for the environment is that all of our facilities in Japan have received certification under the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. We are also positive to introduce environment-friendly system such as solar power generator.
Development of polyester fiber based seat cushion material

Seat cushioning material has conventionally been composed of urethane. TS TECH is currently engaged in research and development on use of polyester as a cushioning material – the same material that is used for seat covers. We have strong expectations of this new cushioning material. By making seats of single material, it will be possible to recycle them without the need for disassembly or separation, and it will assist weight reduction efforts.
